They kept coming

“This is all that’s left?” A doctor asked as he scrambled through the empty boxes. He turns and looks at me with my camera in hand and shows me that there are no eye drops or medical supplies left. He goes on to tell me that there are plenty of meds back at the base but they’re allotted a certain amount per day. And they had more patients show up than they had eye drops. The look in the eye doctors face was unforgettable. He was truly torn and wrenched from the inside out. They had only been there a couple of hours and had a few hundred more to go. What was left for them? After a quick exam and a send off to their homes, they only alternative is to return early enough at another day hope to be seen by a doctor. Hoping to be seen again. Hoping. Hoping. And hoping some more.
