Some say pier 39 is extremely touristy and they choose to avoid the pier all together. It's touristy for a reason. It's one of the best spots in the world. The San Francisco bay is breath taking. There isn't any other spot on this planet like it. We also have beautiful tall bridges that frame the bay. Why not stop at the pier and have a delicious lunch and watch the ferries travel across the waters? Why do only the tourists get to enjoy it? It doesn't make any sense. The bay is beautiful. I dare you locals. Be a tourist. Go to Pier 39 and have lunch. Take a look at Alcatraz, the seals, and and the fleets. It's worth it.
